Ovid's Metamorphosis by Yoko Kubrick is a solo exhibition featuring abstract marble sculptures inspired by feminine archetypes from Ovid’s epic work. Kubrick explores these iconic figures through her unique lens, interpreting classic heroines with a contemporary approach. Her work blends form and nature, using the ancient medium of marble and other stones to reimagine figures like Galatea, Artemis, and Echo. With roots in Czechoslovakia, Guam, and Hawaii, Kubrick’s global perspective brings together themes of nature, mythology, and beauty in a way that feels both modern and deeply connected to the past. This exhibition offers a fresh, abstract take on these mythological heroines, bridging the ancient and the present.
